Sofia Ella Quimbo is a Brooklyn-based artist and researcher who ponders coloniality and gender through material culture. Her current work explores dolls and dollmaking in interwar New York City.

She is a member artist at the Center for Book Arts, where she can often be found arguing with the RISO printers. You can also find her holed up in her atelier making and repairing dolls.

She received her MFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. While at Pratt, she was a Communications Fellow at Pratt Center for Community Development.

Before pursuing graduate studies, she worked in marketing communications in the Philippines.
